Portrait photography in Vienna – capturing personalities authentically and expressively
A good portrait shows more than a face. It reveals personality and creates a connection between the person, their environment, and the mood. That's exactly what my portrait photography focuses on. Instead of standardized studio setups, I develop image series with character that are authentic, approachable, and visually strong.
Whether for a website, press, CV, or personal projects — together we'll develop a visual language that fits you and your public image. I combine natural light aesthetics with a conceptual approach and an emotional way of storytelling. I photograph people in different contexts and tailor the visual language individually to each personality and intended use. This includes, among others:
- Business portraits for executives
- Portraits of artists and creatives
- Portraits for websites, press, and CVs
- Personal portrait series
The focus is always on a trustworthy, authentic, and expressive representation.
My photographic approach
I'm interested not only in the person in front of the camera, but also in their surroundings. That's why many portraits become small reportages, where the person and their environment relate to one another.
Depending on the concept, I shoot in the studio, in the office, or outdoors. In the studio, I increasingly work with a hybrid approach, where classic large-format photography meets digital techniques. This creates images with a special depth and presence.
Individual preparation and post-production for a cohesive concept
Every portrait begins with conceptual preparation. Together, we discuss the desired impression, the visual language, and the later use of the photographs. Post-production is also an important part of my workflow. It enhances atmosphere, lighting, and color, without losing sight of the personality of the person being portrayed. Make-up and styling can be incorporated into the shoot if needed.
Light, technique, and visual language
I work with modern portrait lenses and natural light, but also combine these with analog processes and historic cameras. Depending on the project, I use large-format cameras, medium-format cameras, or, on request, analog photography.
My visual language is often inspired by editorial looks and monochrome color palettes. At the same time — when it fits the concept — I also create work with a 90s color-splash aesthetic, experimental focus placement, or colored effect layering. I'm not afraid of moody lighting, and I refine the final look deliberately in post-production.
